Sad News - Greig Friday

It was with shock and deep sadness that we learned of the tragic death of Greig Friday and his mother, Carol, who were on flight 4U 9525 which crashed in the French Alps.

Greig started Ashwood Secondary College as a Year 7 student in 1998 and was an outstanding school captain in his final year in 2003. A very popular student, Greig is fondly remembered by many staff for his friendly, gentle manner and beautiful smile.

The Friday family were active members of the Ashwood Secondary College community. Both Greig and his sister Alex demonstrated the very best of the Ashwood spirit and contributed in numerous ways to enriching the learning experiences of all students. As a devoted mother, Carol took a keen interest in her children’s education and was a well-respected and familiar presence at many school events. During his time as a parent representative on the School Council father,( David) actively demonstrated his commitment to advancing the educational opportunities for all students at Ashwood Secondary College as well as for his own children.

I know I speak on behalf of the entire Ashwood Secondary College community, both past and present, when I extend our sincere and deep sympathy to David and Alex at this time of their overwhelming grief and loss.  Our thoughts and prayers are with them both.
