Program 2008
The transition from primary school to secondary can be challenging. Initiatives such as a peer support program with trained Year 10 students leading small group activities help new students who enter an environment that is creative but well regulated and supportive. The school has a house structure and the student union. Support structures also include a pastoral care system, home groups with assigned teachers and rooms and a supervised home study program as well as various enrichment, arts and performance programs. All of this creates an environment that's friendly, tolerant, caring and safe.
Ashwood runs one Steiner influenced dual curriculum class at each of Years 7 and 8. These classes are integrated into the mainstream curriculum for the remainder of their program.
Right from the start we encourage students to go further than they or their parents thought possible. We help them break through self-imposed limits. We do this with our specialised support programs and accelerated learning pathways. We encourage. We cajole. We reach out to kids and capture their imagination.
